U Buffalo Saber he had a disastrous season, going 15-34-7 and missing the playoffs for the tenth consecutive season.
The franchise needs to make some changes, and it looks like the teams are starting to check with the Sabers on the availability of several players, including Jack Eichel, according to Darren Dreger of TSN.
Eichel missed most of the 2020-21 season after suffering a disc herniation in his neck. He finished the year with just two goals and 16 assists in 21 games.
The 24-year-old was drafted second by Buffalo in 2015. The Sabers had hoped he would pick them up in the playoffs, but they have been just as bad since his arrival. However, Eichel has been a bright spot for the team over the years. The Massachusetts native scored 139 goals and 216 assists in 375 games played.
Sabers general manager Kevyn Adams said last month that Eichel had not requested an exchange, although the superstar’s forward has openly discussed a “disconnect” with the team as for treating his neck injury.
In addition to Eichel, TSN reports that there has been speculation about the future of Sam Reinhart and Rasmus Ristolainen.
