Jones jones‘the wish was granted, and the strong recruitment of AJ Brown bore fruit.
U Atlanta Falcons they switched wide receiver All-Pro to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a second-round pick in 2022 and a fourth-round pick in 2023, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Rapoport also added that the Falcons will send a sixth pick in 2023 to Tennessee.
It was reported last month that Jones preferred to be traded with both the Titans and the New England Patriots.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported Saturday that the seven-time Pro Bowler wanted to play with a “big-arms QB that can deliver the deep ball.” Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill definitely fits the bill.
Tannehill has found a lot of success over the years throwing the ball deep. On deep routes in 2019, he completed 30 of 53 passes for 865 yards, seven touchdowns, one interception, and a pass rating of 134.6.
Jones had requested an exchange outside of Atlanta earlier this season and confirmed he would not return to the city during the phone with Shannon Sharpe of FS1, saying, “I’m out of here.”
The Falcons had initially looked for a first-round pick in exchange for Jones but have dropped the asking price to a second-round pick in recent weeks.
Tannehill now has several intriguing options entering the 20221 season. Jones is a solid replacement for Corey Davis, who has left in free agency, and joins a receiving team that includes Brown, who led the team with more than 1,000 reception yards last season.
Tennessee won the AFC South with an 11-5 record last season. However, the Titans lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the wild-card round. With Jones on board for the foreseeable future, Mike Vrabel hopes his team will be able to make a deep playoff run.
