Roger Federer retires from the French Open

Roger FedererThe timing of the French Open has come to an end.

The Swiss tennis star withdrew from the French Open on Sunday, citing concerns over his physical condition following a terrible third-round win over Dominik Koepfer.

Federer participated in his first major tournament since the Australian Open 2020. After this event, he underwent a couple of operations on his right knee.

The 39-year-old said last month that he was not ready to fight for the French Open title this spring and had his sights set on Wimbledon, which he won a record eight times.

Federer took on Koepfer 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 7-6 (4), 7-5 in the third round and should play Matteo Berrettini in the fourth round on Monday.
