Rahm heavyweight favorite to win Open Championship


Jon Rahm was a favorite heavy bet to win the 2021 U.S. Open held at Torrey Pines and then tested the spending experts with the trophy for his first major championship.

Rahm is looking to return to Royal St.George’s.

Wednesday afternoon, BetOnline.ag listed Rahm as the clear favorite to win the Open Championship at +900. Brooks Koepka followed the 26-year-old among the favorites but was back at +1600. Both Xander Schauffele and Jordan Spieth entered +1800, while Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas were +2200. (Exact bet lines from Wednesday at 2:30 pm ET.)

American batsman Bryson Dechambeau had a good value at +3500.

2015 Open Championship winner Zach Johnson he made unfortunate headlines earlier this week when he confirmed he would not play in this year’s edition of the tournament after testing positive for COVID-19 after the end of the John Deere Classic on Sunday.

Bubba Watson was considered a close contact at high risk and did not even participate in the Open. Champion of Masters Hideki Matsuyama tested positive for the coronavirus earlier this month and retired as well.

According to David purdum of ESPN, forecasts say temperatures at Royal St.George’s will be in the 70s low with wind speeds around 10-15 mph for the first couple of laps before they dissipate on Sunday.
