The Portland Trail Blazers restrict the search for a new coach, and Mike D’Antoni would always be in the mix.
D’Antoni is one of the candidates who will receive a second interview with the Blazers, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Woj earlier reported that Becky Hammon and Chauncey Billups had also been invited for the second interview.
D’Antoni, who is currently an assistant coach on Steve Nash’s staff with the Brooklyn Nets, has had an interest in the work of Portland. CEO Neil Olshey is said to have had his eye on Billups since he fired Terry Stotts.
Even if he has he received interest from other teams, it seems that D’Antoni is focused on the Blazers at this point.
D’Antoni, 70, has served as coach for the Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets.
