The Clippers they have another 0-2 hole to climb out of, but this time they will have to do without Kawhi Leonard. The star striker has been officially ruled out of the Western Conference Finals game on Thursday, the 3rd. tweets Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times.
Leonard hasn’t played since injuring his knee nine days ago in Game 5 of the LA series against the Jazz. The Clippers have managed to win the last two games of this series without him, but they are facing a deficit again after leaving back-to-back games in Phoenix.
Coach Tyronn Lue said over the weekend that he is preparing to play all of the conference finals without Leonard, only to avoid game-to-game uncertainty if he becomes available.
The Clippers officially call Leonard’s injury a distortion, but few details have been released on the severity. There was concern last week about him could have damaged an ACL, but no one has confirmed if this happened.
