Israeli police attack Palestinian protesters in Sheikh Jarrah | News in the Middle East

Israeli police used stun grenades and sprayed skunk water on Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah’s tense occupied East Jerusalem neighborhood.

There were clashes between Jewish and Palestinian settlers earlier in the evening, with Israeli media reporting that chairs and stones had been thrown between the sides.

The Palestinian Red Crescent has said that 20 Palestinians were injured in the fighting and that several reports have been made.

Late Monday, Israeli police could be seen raiding a Palestinian house and throwing a stun grenade at residents.

Sheikh Jarrah has been the site of frequent crackdowns by Israeli police on Palestinians protesting against the threat of eviction of dozens of Palestinian families from their homes in favor of groups of harsh Israeli settlers.

Israel calls it “a real estate dispute” while Palestinians and rights groups say the case highlights discriminatory policies aimed at pushing Palestinians out of Jerusalem.
