U Tennesee Titans acquired Julio Jones from the Atlanta Falcons in a blockbuster trade on Sunday.
All of his recruiting has certainly paid off, and Titans general manager Jon Robinson can’t wait to see the wide All-Pro receiver take the field in blue.
“We’re excited to add Julio to the football team. He’s excited to be a part of what we’ve had in Nashville. It’s a great day for our team,” he said. Robinson told reporters Sunday.
Robinson added that discussions between the two teams resumed Saturday and said that once Jones was made available, he and Mike Vrabel began evaluating their potential adaptation with the franchise.
“It’s great, it’s fast, it’s hard, it’s great with the ball in its hands, a willing blocker. I think a lot of things we ask our receivers … open, catch and block – I certainly check those boxes and the he did it at a high level in the National Football League, ”he said.
Players on the Titans have heavily recruited Jones throughout the process, including AJ Brown, who made a Video TikTok explaining why Jones has to play for the franchise. Taylor Lewan and Derrick Henry also tweeted their support for Tennessee to exchange for the Alabama product.
Tennessee has lost two of its top pass catchers this season as Corey Davis signed with the New York Jets and Jonnu Smith signed with the New England Patriots.
Therefore, it was important for the team to look for a replacement for these two types. They had more than that in Jones.
