Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi is back.
Mercury confirmed Friday that Taurasi has been released to return for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Sparks after missing last month with a fractured sternum:
Phoenix first announced Taurasi’s injury on May 25 and explained at that time that she would be put off for at least four weeks. According to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN, the two-time WNBA Finals Most Valuable Player underwent a CT scan Tuesday and then showed she could handle contact action 5 to 5 before Friday’s development.
Taurasi suffered the fracture on May 16 but participated in the following two competitions. He has averaged 15.8 points, 3.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds in just four games this season before injury.
Mercury fell to 6-7 on the campaign without Taurasi.
