The Portland Trail Blazers know they need to keep superstar Damian Lillard happy to have any chance of winning anything of note next season and in the foreseeable future. I understand that it can be much more difficult than the goal.
Shortly after coach Terry Stotts and the Trail Blazers ”mutually agreed in part, ” Lillard called Los Angeles Lakers assistant Jason Kidd and Los Angeles Clippers assistant Chauncey Billups as potential replacements. However, Kidd he took his name out of consideration on the weekend, and Jason Quick of Athletic he didn’t receive much response when he texted Lillard several questions about what’s next for the player and the club on Monday.
“I have no comments on anything,” Lillard replied.
Brian Robb of Mass Live noticed recently that Lillard signed a supermax extension in the summer of 2019 that ties him to the Trail Blazers for upcoming seasons and brings him a $ 54 million player option for the 2024-25 campaign. If Lillard isn’t passionate about Portland’s next signing or decides just that he wants to pursue a championship elsewhere, the Trail Blazers will distance themselves from his contract before they could later benefit all parties involved.
