Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is about to land a massive contract extension. The only question is when.
According to Maria Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Mayfield and the Browns have yet to have any substantial contract negotiations as the training camp approaches. Cabot adds that negotiations may extend into the 2021 regular season.
However, one of Mayfield’s agents, Jack Mills, said recently that he expects an agreement to be made this summer, saying, “We’re not going to drag it out.”
It would be ideal for the Mayfield Browns to close sooner or later. Both Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson were expected to be paid before the summer, Mayfield’s price could rise if the two are paid before they do.
Mayfield has been consistent over three years as Cleveland’s starting quarterback. Last season, he went 11-5, completing 62.8% of his passes for 3,563 yards and 26 touchdowns against eight interceptions. He also ran for 165 yards and a point.
